The two-year LL.M. in Insolvency & Bankruptcy Laws (I.B.L.) is a pioneering programme offered by NALSAR in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Corporate Affairs (IICA), New Delhi. The programme responds to the acute shortage of trained insolvency professionals in India’s rapidly evolving insolvency ecosystem. As the first dedicated LL.M. of its kind, the programme is designed to build both conceptual depth and practical expertise for those who wish to work with distressed and bankrupt companies, insolvency professionals, law firms, consultancies, asset reconstruction companies and related institutions.
Students spend their first year at NALSAR’s residential campus in Hyderabad, where they acquire a solid grounding in core legal concepts and the architecture of India’s insolvency and bankruptcy regime through rigorous coursework, seminars, case‑based teaching and guest lectures. They benefit from NALSAR’s rich academic environment, library resources, and alumni and practitioner networks, which support mentoring, research, and early professional orientation.
They spend their second year at IICA, New Delhi, where they build on this foundation through advanced, practice‑oriented courses, focused modules on procedure before forums such as the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), and structured research and internship opportunities with leading organisations in the insolvency space. The dual‑campus design exposes students to complementary institutional strengths and professional ecosystems in both Hyderabad and the National Capital Region, fostering a holistic learning journey that prepares graduates to contribute meaningfully to India’s insolvency and bankruptcy landscape.
